Ho Ho Hold On, I’m Shopping Early

I am weirdly motivated to get a jump start on Christmas shopping, and honestly, I’m not even going to question it. I know Halloween is literally this weekend and Thanksgiving is up next, but my brain has apparently skipped straight to Santa’s workshop.

Also, when you’re bored at the house, what else is there to do besides casually browse Christmas gifts and convince yourself that adding things to your cart counts as being productive? Because at this point, I’ve done the browsing, I’ve filled the carts, and now all that’s left is to hit buy. My bank account is probably somewhere shaking its head, but that’s a problem for another day.

I grew up in a household where my parents started Christmas shopping in September for the bigger kids and by November for the little ones. My mom’s birthday is in mid-November, and she always said she wanted to be DONE shopping by her birthday. And honestly? Now that I’m an adult with a baby of my own, I finally understand the vision. She wasn’t being extra. She was being efficient, festive, and probably protecting her own sanity.

We’re also doing one last Christmas of spoiling the big kids (our nieces and nephews) before everything inevitably shifts to buying our baby girl approximately everything her tiny little heart could ever need. So let us have this one last hurrah before the baby fever takes over the Christmas budget.

And speaking of the baby, her only gift from us this year is going to be an inflatable chair I saw on TikTok that helps her sit up. Because apparently, at her age, sitting upright is a luxury experience, and we’re just out here investing in her development.

So yes, it’s not even November yet, and I’m already mentally wrapping presents. Some people have fall fever, some have Halloween fever, and apparently, I have a severe case of premature Christmas spirit. At least when December rolls around, I’ll be the one sipping my coffee in peace while everyone else is fighting for their lives in the stores.
