A life update

Advertisements

So here we are a little over a week after I got fired, and I’ve been kind of crashing out, you guys. I’ve had all the thoughts and feelings; in the end, I’m just tired.

I’ve been through the grief cycle, mostly angry and depressed. I thought I was losing my mind when I was happy about not having a job- simply because it meant a break—a chance to relax. But also, so much has happened that’s just been a distraction, losing TikTok and CapCut getting TikTok back! RIP CapCut! I’m starting to hate one of my friends- a different blog! – for legal reasons, that’s a joke! I’ve been learning to give up my dreams and accepting that I might have peaked in high school!

I’ve applied to everything and anything, and if that doesn’t work out well, I will accept that I’m a loser. I’m kidding. This political and economic climate has made changing careers a lot harder. But people still sell foot pictures, right? Because I have some toes to sell!

I have a job interview on Wednesday, so fingers crossed.

For now, I’ll stay in bed, rotting and regaining my animal-crossing addiction. I picked up my switch for the first time in a year. It felt kinda magical.

But school, a job, and trying to have relationships are all hard to juggle. So, it has been exactly one year and five months since I played the game. The animals tell you.

I’m a Digital Disaster

Advertisements

Hey everyone! 🌟

I wanted to share a little bit about my journey with social media. While I love connecting online, I wouldn’t say I’m the most tech-savvy person out there! It is so funny when people ask me for help with posting, but I’m just as lost. I’m an elder Gen Z, and I often feel like a total boomer navigating the wild world of social media! It’s a wild ride, and I’m here for it!

The platforms I’m most comfortable with are TikTok (hopefully, we get to keep it) and Instagram, but I recently started a Facebook page. I’m still figuring things out over there! I also have a kind of new Tumblr blog—I’ve had it for six years—but I’ve never posted anything myself, but I reposted something once. Honestly, I just don’t post on it cuz my original account from 2012, when I was in high school, got banned. I was writing fanfics and shit posting.

Honestly, I feel like that’s why I don’t post as often. I loved saying my absolute truth without worrying about how people would react. Now, that’s all I care about, but I’m hoping to change that.

I’d love for you to follow me for updates, posts, and more! Let’s connect and have some fun together! 💬✨

Making Resolutions Fun: The Bingo Card Challenge

Advertisements

Originally this year, I wasn’t going to make resolutions for myself simply because in the past when I’ve done it I just noticed that I don’t commit myself as much as I want to. But this year my friend came up with a really fun idea. Something that she’s on TikTok.

She suggested that we do bingo cards and that we see who gets to bingo first. So now it’s kind of like a little competition between us. We agreed the resolutions could be as big or as little as we want.

I know what you’re thinking you’re thinking here and it’s already halfway through the month of January. Why are you doing this now? Well, honestly, most of my friends don’t believe that resolutions should start with the new year. They actually kind of believe that they should start in spring. Something to do with a pagan holiday I think that’s what you would call it. Ostara which is basically like pagan Easter all about the rebirth that spring brings. Which I actually be helping my friends celebrate this year.

We have until Sunday to finish out our bingo cards, and I am completely drawing a blank! But I will definitely update when I’m done!

I don’t know if I want to marry into his family

Advertisements

Over the past year, I have been quite challenged by Hector’s family situation. While his parents are generally nice and greet me when we see each other, I often feel disconnected. I understand they might not include me in certain gatherings because of the language barrier, but it’s hard not to feel uncomfortable or unwelcome when I’m around them.

It’s such a contrast to how my parents have treated Hector. From the very beginning, they embraced him warmly, making every effort to ensure he feels included in our family. Even though he might miss some of our inside jokes, they always find ways to connect with him. My dad speaks Spanish, and my mom speaks English, which helps create a comfortable environment for him.

Sadly, Hector’s sisters, despite being proficient in English, sometimes make me feel like an outsider too. I know they probably don’t mean to, but it can be challenging to shake the feeling of being a nuisance. I want to find a way to bridge this gap and hopefully foster a more welcoming atmosphere for everyone involved.

In all the time we’ve been together, the longest I have stayed at his parents’ house was about two hours in one day. I take that back; it was on New Year’s this year when I was there the longest because we arrived at 8:30 and stayed until midnight. Having a back-and-forth conversation with them is almost impossible. I’ve always been the one to initiate most conversations, but they seldom lead anywhere, though they are ‘nice’ enough. To them, I am still a complete stranger unless they ask Hector questions about me, which I doubt they do.

His mom hates to cook, while I love it. Every time I offer to cook, I get denied. I had planned to bring a dessert for Christmas, but I was told no because his sister’s boyfriend preordered a $60 cheesecake, which wasn’t even good. We all agreed we would not pay that much for it.

Yesterday, I took my niece to see Disney on Ice and wanted to include Hector’s niece, who is only five years old. I thought she would enjoy it. Instead of just taking the kid like I wanted, his sister and her boyfriend came along, too. After the show, I was eager to keep the fun going and suggested going out to eat, but his sister shot that idea down instantly. Honestly, I saw that coming, which is why I had already made a reservation at a restaurant—I just knew she would say no!

I really needed to share what’s been on my mind because it feels like things are just not getting any better. I completely understand that his parents come from a different generation and cultural backgrounds, and the language barrier definitely adds to the challenge. It’s clear that unless one of us learns the other’s language, communication will remain difficult.

As for his sisters, it’s honestly disheartening. If they choose not to engage in a relationship, I have to respect that decision, even though it’s tough to accept.

Looking ahead, I know it’s important for me to invest in this relationship. I want to maintain open and honest conversations with Hector, work on building meaningful connections with his family, and make an effort to understand their culture. I also recognize that adjusting my expectations and establishing healthy boundaries will be vital for our journey together.

Going to the movies

Advertisements

Going to the movies is absolutely my favorite date with Hector! It’s not just about catching a film; we turn it into an adventure most of the time! Our last date in 2024 was epic—a movie date that blew our minds! We watched Mufasa, indulged in a delicious meal, and then headed to a pop-up Pixar mini golf! I decided to only share our mini golf snaps on Instagram because I believe the magic of movies deserves respect—no photos during the film!

The theme for the day was pure Disney magic! Some might argue that mini golf was the main event, but let’s be real: we spent about an hour and a half on it, while the movie experience lasted a solid two hours—plus the anticipation of getting our favorite snacks, enjoying the trailers, and picking out what we’d see next! Oh, and let’s not forget Christmas morning; we kicked off our holiday by catching Nosferatu at the theaters! We arrived super early, hoping to snag a coveted popcorn bucket, but alas, no luck.

Now, I’m buzzing with excitement to share my list of movies I can’t wait to see this year and see how many of them I’ll actually catch on the big screen! Let the cinematic adventure begin!

Bloganuary 2025: Daily Writing, First Wedding Gift & Fun at Dave & Buster’s

Advertisements

I want to do Bloganuary again, but I answered all the prompts on WordPress. So, I’m going to blog daily, but I will write my own prompts, kinda but not really! The goal is to write 100 words at minimum daily for the entire month.

We are on day two of the year, and I spent today at Dave & Buster’s for the first time ever. I went with my Job for a kind of celebration. We didn’t really do our Christmas party last year. And it was fun. I stayed there for three hours, eating and playing games. I even took a shot with my coworkers for the first time. I just have great intentions for this upcoming year. I feel like so much will improve, especially since today was one of those days, and yesterday, I got my first wedding gift from a coworker. She gave me a larger crockpot, which I have been dying to buy myself, so I think this year is starting amazingly.

Word of the Year 2025

Advertisements

I hope everyone had an incredible New Year’s Eve celebration and is excited for the adventures this year has in store!

This year, I’m diving headfirst into some thrilling New Year’s resolutions: I’m on a mission to plan my dream wedding with maximum joy and minimal stress, shed 60 pounds to feel my absolute best and keep my budget in check by skipping out on unnecessary expenses. Let’s make this year unforgettable!

But that’s just the beginning! I’ve got even more on my to-do list. I’m ready to regain control and stop letting stress dictate my life. Last year, there were so many moments when work or school tried to pull me under, and I let it overshadow the good stuff. This year, I’m committed to celebrating those amazing moments and embracing all the positivity life offers!

But how will I do this? Well, that brings me to my word of the year: Resilience.

Resilience is all about having the strength to handle life’s ups and downs! It means facing challenges, stress, and pressures with a positive attitude and returning from tough times. You can easily navigate through changes by building emotional resilience, being self-aware, and staying adaptable. It’s like having a toolkit for life that helps you grow and flourish, no matter what comes your way!

Here are some friendly ways I plan to build resilience in myself:

– I will practice mindfulness and be present in the moment.

– I’ll look for opportunities to discover more about myself.

– Keeping things in perspective will help me stay grounded.

– I’ll make self-care a priority in my life.

– Taking care of my physical and mental well-being.

– And I’ll remember to express myself!

These are some friendly steps I’m excited to take on my journey!

What are your favorite sports to watch and play?

Baseball has always been my favorite sport, and I believe its uniqueness sets it apart from other sports. Unlike football or boxing, baseball has evolved over the years, and its history is not integral to its appeal. Comparing legends from the past to current greats is a popular pastime for fans, but the sport is so different that it’s impossible to compare players from various eras.

Accomplishments like winning the World Series, Pennant, Cy Young, or MVP mean more in baseball than they do in other sports. The only exception is the Super Bowl, which has an aura that is hard to match. Listening to baseball on the radio can be just as thrilling as watching it on TV, and sometimes, it’s even better, especially if the play-by-play announcer is excellent.

What made baseball my favorite sport was going to the games. Unlike other sports, umpires don’t blow whistles, and players chat with each other on the field, creating a friendly atmosphere. The sound of a long ball leaving the park can bring immense joy to the crowd, and celebratory music blasts at full volume. The vendors around the stadium yelling “CHURROS!”, “ICE-COLD LEMONADE!” and “Ice cream!” create a uniquely wholesome atmosphere. Bleacher tickets are also affordable, and attending games is a great way to have fun and enjoy the sport.

What would you do if you won the lottery?

If I were to win the lottery, I’d first fulfill a lifelong dream of owning a Mustang Shelby. The mere thought of cruising in my dream car fills me with excitement and joy.

Next, I’d purchase a townhouse in a location close to my mother. It would be spacious enough to accommodate all my needs, and I’d have plenty of room to entertain guests. I’ve always dreamed of having a place I could call home.

But that’s not all; I would also use some money to pursue my educational goals and further develop my career. The high cost of tuition has always been a barrier for me, but with my newfound wealth, I could finally achieve my academic aspirations.

Lastly, I would set aside some money for my nieces and nephews. I’d put whatever little money remains into a CD and save it for their future educational expenses. I want to ensure that they have the resources they need to pursue their dreams, just as I would be doing with mine.

Hi my name is…

Advertisements

Write about your first name: its meaning, significance, etymology, etc.

My name is Eryn, which holds a significant connection to Irish heritage. The name Eryn is derived from the ancient Celtic language, where the word Éirinn was used to refer to the country of Ireland. Over time, this word evolved into the English name Erin and eventually the Americanized spelling of Eryn.

Interestingly, the name Eryn has an entirely different meaning in Welsh. In Welsh, Eryn signifies “peace” or “blessed,” which adds more significance to my beautiful name. It’s incredible that one name can carry multiple meanings across different languages and cultures.

I am highly grateful for the name Eryn that my mother chose for me over Nyree. She came across the name Nyree while watching the actress Nyree Dawn Porter and was initially drawn to it because of its uniqueness. However, she ultimately decided on Eryn, which resonated more with her Irish heritage.

My current name has been a blessing in so many ways. Although it was hard to find on keychains and other personalized items, I’ve come to appreciate the rarity of my name. It has taught me to value life’s little things and given me a sense of individuality.

It’s incredible to think that fate may have played a role in my name. The fact that Nyree is literally Eryn spelled backwards with an extra E is a fascinating coincidence. It makes me feel like my name was meant to be Eryn all along.

Overall, I’m grateful for my unique name and how it has shaped my life. It has taught me to embrace my individuality and has given me a sense of pride in my heritage.

My name represents a blend of different cultures and languages, which reflects my diverse background.
