What a month September was, huh?
I moved. I had a baby. I went to the ER for said baby. I recovered from an emergency C-section. I somehow survived all of that while also becoming responsible for keeping another tiny human alive.
So yeah.
September was busy.
But hopefully, that particular chapter of chaos is behind us because…
HAPPY OCTOBER!
My favorite month has arrived, and honestly, I feel like I’ve been waiting for this all year.
I always get the urge to suddenly become the most productive blogger alive once fall rolls around. Something about autumn makes me want to take approximately 47 pictures of a pumpkin, bake something unnecessarily complicated, rearrange my entire life, and convince myself that I am the kind of person who casually spends an afternoon making homemade soup.
Fall inspires me.
Or maybe I just really like pumpkins.
Either way, I’m leaning into it.
For me, joy is very much tied to this season. I love the coziness, the little traditions, the spooky nonsense, the food, the smells, the decorations, and basically every excuse to romanticize staying home.
And this year, I get to experience it all a little differently because I have a baby now.
So I’m excited about:
Celebrating Halloween in a new way.
Because apparently having a baby means I now have an adorable little Halloween accessory who cannot object to being dressed like a pumpkin.
Finding new things to do this autumn.
I want new traditions. New little adventures. New reasons to get out of the house and enjoy the season.
Cooking and baking.
My kitchen is about to become a pumpkin-flavored crime scene.
Making my pumpkin bread.
Obviously. This is not optional.
Carving pumpkins.
Because what is October without making a perfectly good vegetable into a tiny haunted house?
Putting the baby in a pumpkin.
I have waited my entire life for this moment. The pumpkin baby WILL happen.
And, of course…
AUTUMN-SCENTED EVERYTHING.
Candles? Yes.
Soap? Absolutely.
Lotion? Probably.
Something labeled “Warm Pumpkin Cozy Sweater Apple Cinnamon Woods” that smells nothing like any real thing found in nature? Put it in my cart.
September may have thrown me directly into the deep end, but I’m ready for October.
Give me pumpkins. Give me spooky movies. Give me hot chocolate. Give me baked goods. Give me crisp-weather energy, even if California refuses to cooperate.
I want the whole autumn experience.
And maybe, just maybe, I’d like October to be a little less eventful than September.
Please. I am begging.
Now, if you need me, I’ll be at home in my comfiest pajamas, surrounded by pumpkins, probably holding a baby, with a giant mug of hot cocoa in my hands.
Extra marshmallows. Obviously.
Because sometimes joy is the big stuff…
…and sometimes it’s just a warm blanket, a cozy cup of cocoa, and nowhere you need to be.
Here’s to a cozy, spooky, pumpkin-filled October.
