More venting than anything, but I’m also genuinely looking for advice because apparently my baby has decided that my left boob is no longer accepting applications.
Recently, every time I try to get her to nurse from my left side, it turns into a whole struggle. When I offer her the right, she is immediately like, “Yep, this is the one,” and latches right on. But the left? Suddenly we have problems.
She’ll start crying, and even when she does finally put my nipple in her mouth, she’ll suck maybe once and then immediately break the latch. And then we’re back to crying, trying again, breaking the latch, crying some more… you get the idea.
So, genuinely, any advice for getting her to stop doing this? Is this something babies just do sometimes? Is there a trick to getting her comfortable with the other side?
And honestly, I don’t know. Ever since she turned two weeks old, she’s just been acting real weird.
She doesn’t want to take a bottle from Mommy, but apparently she’ll consider taking one from everybody else. Because of course she will.
And just when I think we’re starting to get some sort of schedule figured out, she changes it.
I swear, this baby is already keeping me humble.
I know she’s still a newborn and there really isn’t supposed to be a perfect schedule yet, but I would appreciate someone explaining to my brain that, because my brain would really like to know what we’re doing here.
So, breastfeeding moms: when did your baby actually get the hang of nursing? And has anyone else had a baby who suddenly decided one boob was acceptable and the other one was absolutely not?
Because I am currently being bullied by a person who cannot even hold her own head up.
