Happy National Daughter Day to the tiny human who has been running my life for exactly 11 days.
You came into this world TWO WEEKS early because apparently you already have places to be and things to do. And because you like to keep things interesting, your grand entrance ended in an emergency C-section. Nothing like a little ✨surprise✨ surgery to kick off motherhood.
Then we made a little detour to the NICU, because why start with the easy setting when we could just go straight to hard mode?
And somehow, that was only the beginning.
Your umbilical cord fell off at FIVE DAYS OLD. Five. The books said 8–10 days… some even said closer to two weeks. But clearly, you looked at those timelines and said, “Nah, I’ll do my own thing.”
Then there’s breastfeeding. Let’s just say neither of us knew what we were doing, and apparently there is no manual for getting two people who have never done this before to successfully figure it out at 2 a.m. There have been tears, frustration, snacks, and a lot of Googling.
And then came your first doctor’s appointment, where I learned that motherhood apparently means NOT obsessively monitoring a 7-pound human for every possible weird noise, movement, sneeze, and poop.
You’ve been here for 11 days and already have me questioning everything.
But somehow, through all the chaos, you’ve also completely stolen my heart.
You may be tiny, dramatic, stubborn, and already refusing to follow instructions—but you’re my tiny, dramatic, stubborn girl.
And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Happy National Daughter Day, baby girl. Eleven days down. A lifetime to go.
… and somehow I’m already wondering how I’m going to survive the teenage years.
