The best way to accidentally concern your elderly family

The best way to accidentally concern your elderly family:

Apparently, all you have to do is acknowledge One Direction’s 16th anniversary.

The trend is simple: post a picture of yourself at the age you discovered One Direction (I was 13), don’t use a One Direction photo, and play a sad One Direction song in the background. I used Night Changes, but honestly any emotional song works.

What I didn’t realize is that this looks exactly like the kind of post someone makes before announcing terrible news.

My family immediately thought something was wrong. They were texting and calling to make sure I was okay and that nothing had happened with the pregnancy.

And I’m sitting there trying to explain…

“No, no, everything’s fine! I’m just emotional because it’s been 16 years since One Direction was formed.”

To be fair… the pregnancy hormones definitely made it hit harder.

It’s also the second anniversary since Liam’s passing. And I think that’s what really gets me. We were told they were just taking a short break. We all genuinely believed they’d reunite someday. Maybe not tomorrow or next year, but eventually.

Now we know that reunion can never happen the way we all imagined it.

So yes, I was crying over a boy band.

The baby is perfectly fine. My family, however, now knows that pregnancy hormones plus One Direction nostalgia is apparently enough to trigger a full wellness check.
