My Vegas Trip Recap: Heat Waves, Hugs, and Hard Truths

Just got back from my trip to Vegas, and wow… what an experience! It was emotionally and literally quite the journey.

It was so heartwarming to spend quality time with my mom and catch up with my sister and nephews. Seriously, these kids have grown so much—it’s like I’ve missed a few chapters of their lives! Every time I visit, I start thinking about moving back, but then I step outside into that scorching 110-degree heat and instantly remember why I left. I must have been built differently back in the day because now? I feel like I can barely handle one day in that weather! I’ll definitely never complain about Cali heat again.

The trip had its moments, for sure. Unfortunately, I’ve got some sad news: all the Station Casinos have closed their buffets 💔. That was such a comforting spot for me! We ended up trying the South Point buffet instead—it was decent! They had an omelet station at breakfast that was surprisingly delicious. I didn’t even realize how much I had missed eggs until I devoured two omelets like a champ!

Now for the not-so-glamorous part: money. We went into the trip with just $100 in spending cash and a whole lot of good vibes… but after paying $150 for car insurance and $77 for my phone bill, those vibes disappeared real quick. We still had to eat, get gas, and cover basic expenses, so things got tight fast. I ended up dipping into money I’d set aside for real life—not the trip—which wasn’t ideal, but it is what it is.

And today, reality hit even harder. I asked Hector if he had a chance to talk to our roommate about covering his rent share this month since he lost his job. I’m just not in a position to cover both our portions, especially after our vacation. I think keeping finances super separate is a bit stupid but im supporting his decision on his but when we have shared bills, so I told him: pride doesn’t pay rent. He might need to grab any job just to help keep us afloat!

So yeah, not the trip I had daydreamed about. No wild Vegas adventures or big wins—just lots of hugs, the heat, a couple of tasty omelets, and a reminder that life keeps moving, even when you’re hoping for a little break.

But I’m back now! A bit tired and stressed, but ready to refocus and get back on my fitness goals, one step at a time. 🧘‍♀️💪
