So… Thanksgiving Is Apparently This Week??

Advertisements

I swear… like… Halloween JUST ended a few days ago. And to be fair, Halloween wasn’t just Halloween for me… it was my wedding day. So yes, maybe that teeny tiny life event might have distracted me from checking the calendar like a normal human. But now Thanksgiving is suddenly here and I’m standing here blinking like, “Wait… already?”

Which is wild, because I don’t usually get caught slipping on this holiday. Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite right behind Halloween, obviously. It has all my comfort things. Family. Love. Good food. That warm, glowing energy where everyone’s a little softer than usual.

And suddenly everyone’s like, “What are you doing for Thanksgiving?”
And I’m like…
Doing what? With who? What plan?
Because I have zero idea what’s happening this year.

To make it funnier, I just found out Hector has to work on Thanksgiving… because HE also didn’t realize it was Thanksgiving. So apparently this is a household-wide blind spot. Love that for us. Truly thriving.

So now I’m probably just going to my friend’s house like, “Hi, yes, I am the emotionally unprepared guest who brings pie and vibes.” Honestly? Feels on-brand.

Also, serious question that has been haunting me:
Does everyone dress up nicely just to sit in the living room on Thanksgiving?
Is that universal or cultural?
Because my mom’s family did it so I’m convinced it’s just a “we’re going to look good for absolutely no reason” tradition that no one questions.

will still find time to make a pie, of course. Just… probably not as elaborate as the pumpkin pie cheesecake I’ve been making for the past three years. This year it’s going to be something simpler. Cozy. Sweet. Comfort-food chaos in dessert form.

Anyway… if you’re also unprepared, confused, and finding out holiday plans in real time, welcome. Pull up a seat next to me. Let’s panic together.
