Countdown to Our DIY Halloween Wedding

Okay, 15 DAYS. Yes, you heard me, 15 DAYS! It’s officially crunch time, and I’m equal parts freaking out and so excited. The menu’s locked down (thankfully), the theme is all planned (a little Corpse Bride mixed with Over the Garden Wall), and the playlist is slowly coming together. But seriously, there’s so much left to do. I’m trying to pull it all off in my backyard, and I’m going full DIY with a spooky, enchanted garden vibe.

I’m in the middle of creating giant trees and giant flowers to give it that “overgrown garden” look. Think chicken wire and cardboard for the trees, wrapped in fairy lights to give them a glowing, eerie vibe. I’m also adding moss and spider webs for that extra creepy touch. The flowers are made from tissue paper and cardboard—they’ll be huge, colorful, and look like they belong in a magical world. It’s coming together, but, wow, the pressure is real.

The menu is officially ready to go. I’m keeping it simple and Halloween-themed with comfort food and spooky treats. There’s going to be Halloween cupcakes, bone-shaped meringues, pumpkin cookies, and a black margarita or blood-red sangria. Comforting bites and drinks that are easy to eat, easy to drink, and totally fun. For gift bags, I’m going with mini bottles of booze for the adults and pumpkin toys and coloring books for the kids. Keeping it cute and simple!

Instead of a traditional dance floor, I’m focusing on entertainment that’ll keep the vibe fun and spooky. We’ve got a close-up magic show (so excited for this—who doesn’t love a good magic trick?), a costume contest, and some Halloween trivia to keep everyone engaged. After the first dance (which is all locked in), we’re going straight into a Halloween rave. It’s going to be a full-on spooky party.

I’m also packing an emergency kit—because, let’s face it, wedding day stress is a real thing. I’ve got safety pins, band-aids, a mini bottle of champagne, and a couple of other random things to keep everything running smoothly. Because I know the minute I don’t pack something, it’ll be needed.

With only 15 days to go, I’m starting to feel the pressure, but I know it’s all going to come together. I’m DIY-ing everything, but it’s going to be a spooky, magical, and perfect celebration for our backyard wedding. If anyone has any last-minute tips for pulling off a Halloween wedding (or just wedding tips in general), I will take them all. I’m both panicked and pumped, but I know this is going to be a day to remember.
