So she’s a bit of a fixer upper

Okay, so life’s kind of a mess right now – but not really, just a bit chaotic. My oven broke, and I literally use it at least once a week, so that’s fun.

The house we’re renting? It’s cute, but definitely not the dream place I imagined. The previous tenants were total nightmares (thankfully, we knew that going in thanks to the owner), but I didn’t realize just how bad things were.

The house is just like a strong wind away from falling down.

For starters, the kitchen was just brand new and fully remodeled before we moved in. It looked gorgeous—until the previous tenants basically demolished it. They left damage everywhere, and now it’s just not as nice as it should be.

The roof definitely needs some work. There’s this huge crack in the ceiling, and when it rains, we get our own indoor waterfall. The kitchen and bathroom floors are all squishy—probably from water damage. We had to replace the window screens because they were completely torn apart—even though the windows are brand new, the last tenants ruined them. Oh, and the ceiling fan in the living room? Somehow, they messed it up, and I swear Hector’s 6’2” and can barely reach it! It’s almost impressive how badly they managed to break that.

And the worst part? The washing machine. I’m not sure if it was just worn out or if they broke it, but either way, it’s dead, and now we have to haul laundry to the laundromat. But hey, we’re here for a good time, not a long time, so we’re rolling with it.

Despite all of that, the house does have some bright spots. I mean, honestly, these are all small complaints considering how great the rest of the place is. We’ve got a massive backyard that just needs some TLC—it’s a jungle back there, but it was like that when we moved in. This month, we’ve mostly been focused on settling in, bickering over who’s responsible for what, and, oh yeah, waiting for the gas company to finally come out and fix our pilot light on the 18th. Classic.

All in all, things are a little bumpy, but we’re making it work. At least we’ve got a place to call home, even if it’s a bit of a fixer-upper!
