I’m going to the Bay Area for a short trip.
I’m visiting my grandfather, I don’t see him often, but he means the world to me.
My grandfather is one of those people who tries to help everyone around him, and he talks to everyone. I’ve seen this man have very personal conversations with people he’s literally just met. He’s adorable and approachable like he’s everyone’s grandfather. He was excited when I said I was going out there.
Here’s what I’m packing for a trip to the Bay Area.
I’m a bit of a packing expert. In truth, it’s taken practice for me to ace the packing game. It’s far too easy to overpack for short trips.
This is a carry-on-only trip. I’m packing light and small. It’s the essentials-only type of trip. I’m taking a bus there. The drive to Northern California from SoCal is seven hours. Typically I would fly up, but the plane tickets started at $160. With my upcoming Disney trip, I’d rather save that money.
I’m arriving at night and checking into a hotel room. And getting up bright and early to spend the day together and then catch another bus back.
The Packing List
- Extra Mask
- Wallet with ID and credit cards
- Keys
- Headphones
- Toiletries
- A book
- Water bottle
- A sweater
- Spare cash
- Snacks for the road
- Portable and regular chargers
- Hand sanitizer
- Pain relief just in case
- A change of clothes for the next day
- Sleep clothes.
You don’t need multiple outfit options “just in case” or “to get rid of the bus/plane/whatever transportation smell. I know my bare minimum packing style isn’t for everyone. But my sister was the QUEEN of overpacking, and even I find it especially easy to overpack when we fly with Southwest (2 free checked bags!)
I decided to put a stop to the overpacking. I ended up not wearing everything I packed anyway. I was excited to see if I could challenge myself not to overpack.
