Time to Finally Be a Pinup

Advertisements

Today was the Haunted Harbor Hop, the 2nd annual Halloween version of the Harbor Hop, and as always, it was a blast. Seeing everyone’s costumes, hair, and makeup reminded me why I’ve loved this event for years. I’ve been going, taking photos, cheering on the contestants… and dreaming about being up there myself.

For the past four years, I’ve told myself I was going to go as a pinup for the Miss Harbor Hop contest. And for the past four years, I’ve found every excuse not to. Maybe I wasn’t ready. Maybe I didn’t know what kind of pinup I wanted to be. Maybe I wasn’t perfect enough.

Well, this year? I’m gonna go. So now I have no excuse. I have to sign up as a pinup for Miss Harbor Hop. I don’t care if I win — I just have to try.

I want to build a page dedicated to learning to be a pinup and trying, because honestly, I don’t know yet what type of pinup I’m going to be. Classic, rockabilly, cheesecake… maybe a little of everything. That’s part of the fun: experimenting, discovering my style, and embracing the process.

Enter Bunny Bouffant, my pinup alter ego. She’s going to be my corner of the internet to document this journey: the wins, the mistakes, the learning curve, and everything in between. This is the year I stop watching from the sidelines and start stepping into the spotlight.

Signing up for the contest isn’t about perfection. It’s about showing up. It’s about taking that leap I’ve been putting off for years. March will mark the 5th Annual Harbor Hop, and I’ll finally be there — curls teased, eyeliner sharp, and nerves shaking — but ready.

Win or lose, I am finally going to do what I’ve been dreaming about for years: become a pinup.
