With Hector’s party coming up soon, I’m feeling pretty nervous about turning it into a murder mystery! I really want everyone to have a blast, but there’s a lot to manage—assigning characters, planning the menu, and decorating the space. Honestly, the idea of trying to DIY everything, especially the clues and storyline, feels overwhelming.
The good news is that I found an amazing pack that takes care of most of the details! The menu is set, and the characters are already lined up—I just need to assign them. However, I can’t do that until I hear back from our guests. I sent out the invitations on March 19th, and it feels like we’ve been waiting forever for confirmation.
I do have a slight worry that some guests might be hesitant about joining in on the game since it involves different roles and a script. It’s super important to have enough people to keep the game flowing smoothly, or it might not be as fun. If some guests really don’t want to participate, I guess I could skip that part of the party. I want everyone to feel involved as detectives, witnesses, and suspects, but I can’t force anyone. Plus, with kids running around, keeping everyone focused is definitely going to be a challenge! To help with that, I plan to set up an arts and crafts area and a few games for the kids so the adults can fully enjoy the mystery.
Ultimately, my main goal is for everyone to have an amazing time. I’d feel more at ease if it was just our close friends since we’re all into escape rooms and themed events. But I also want to make sure Hector’s family, our roommates’ friends, and even my mom and godparents feel comfortable and enjoy themselves. I’m hoping for a night full of laughter and fun, and I really want to make sure everyone feels involved!
Since I haven’t heard back from many people yet, I’m a bit unsure about how to move forward with the preparations. I want to get organized and gather everything I need for food, but I keep hesitating because I worry about too many leftovers. I plan to finalize the food by Wednesday to be ready for anything. I do know that almost everyone is likely to come. They suck at responding to invites, and 10 of the 30 invites are for Hector’s family, so that’s a solid group to count on.
